93sv mounting transducer

Does anyone know if I can mount the transducer backward and then switch the signal electronically? My buddy who works at a boat shop says that's what they do on Lowrance units so the wire runs straight.

2007 520 Ranger has the set back transom and I want to run the cable down the splash well and mount it underneath using a spacer from precision sonar and when I do the ducer will be backward.

Under Menu, Sonar Setup, Installation, simply select Flip Left/Right.
