RED LEVER 1992 Fast Strike ?
Can any one tell me what is the purpose of the RED LEVER located next to fuel pump. The lever rotates 180 degrees. Having problems with engine dying at slow idle (1000rpm) but runs fine at (1200 rpm). This is a real problem when trying to load boat on trailer. I can hit the choke intermittently and keeps the motor running. Please Help! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif

I have a '93 and the red lever is a manual choke. I don't remember which position it should be in normally but mabey knowing what it is will help you out some. Seems like there was a sticker on the intake or cowl somewhere that explained it.

I believe this is the primer and not a choke.... I believe the primer replaced chokes... The primer if I understand correctly is for when you are starting the boat initially, and you push on the key switch, it shoots a stream of gas directly into the intake.... There should be a picture on the carb cover that shows which direction it should be pointed... It does on mine... Hope this helps, but you can also wait for the experts as well....

it is a primer, however I have no idea what position it should be in. If you have a buddy, pump the bulb, pull the hose off (be very careful not to break the nipple off) and have him push the key in while you note how much fuel skeets out in each position.
I think if I remember right, you can kind of adjust the output by moving the the lever.

The red lever should be inline with the body of the primer for automatic operation.
Turning it 90 degrees to the body of the primer puts it in manual mode.

THATS LEVER "B". IF YA DONT KNOW NUTHIN ABOUT LEAVER "A"THEN LEAVER "B". http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif THATS FUNNY RIGHT THERE.

So if the primer lever is in the incorrect position, then the motor would run but it could make it difficult to start?
If so I could have found out why my buddy's boat is so dang hard to start. For some reason he won't just take it to Rusty to check it out.
I'm going to check it this afternoon.
Re: RED LEVER 1992 Fast Strike ? (Fiddlefarter)
The red lever is the switch for the Schrader valve when you are running tuner (or fogging oil) through your motor. There should be a valve that looks like a tire inflator stem; your tuner valve screws into this, flip the lever and press the button on the tuner can to run tuner through the engine while the engine is running. Much easier than removing the intake cover and shooting the tuner through each intake.

The Shraeder valve came into plat about 1990/1991 when the change was made from TCW-2 to TCW-3. ONce you decarbed the motor you couldn't go back to TCW-2. This also made it easier one the techs to de-carb the motor. This was an upgrade and not an EC from what I remember. It entailed replacing the Valve and changing the gasket to the brown colored one. From what I remember it was called the Maintenance port up grade. Long time to remember a tech bulletin. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif Pretty much automatic now to change it out when ever you see one.

Yeah I got that. I use it for decarb on mine. I still wasn't real sure what the actual lever did. I don't think I switch it when I decarb mine. What ever the can says is what I do. Don't remember anything about moving the lever.
