Question about Skeeter's livewells
How do you guys use your livewells on your Skeeters? I've filled my livewells up, pushed the Open/Closed to closed and put my recircs on auto. After a little while I've noticed that I'm losing water out of the livewells. Especially if I make a run, when I stop and open the livewells I won't have 6 or 8 inches of water in there. Am I doing something wrong?

Buzz,
Sounds like a leak to me especially if you have it in the closed position.

Where would it be leaking? Back through the plumbing? I know it's defenitly not leaking in the bilge area, if I ever pull the plug, it's bone dry. If it is leaking back through the plumbing, how can you find that?
Re: Question about Skeeter's livewells (Buzzed Bait)
Close your wells off and fill them at home with it sitting in the driveway and see if it is leaking.I had my portside do the same thing and it was due to some trash getting in the valve .Nothing to hard to fix
Re: Question about Skeeter's livewells (Buzzed Bait)
yep sounds like one or both of the valves are stuck open, you can get back there and I thing there are a few screws to take the top off and clean it out.
Re: Question about Skeeter's livewells (LaCajuninNC)
It's either your valves are not closing all the way, or the O-rings on your quick disconnect hose fittings are old and need to be replaced. If it's valves closing, it could be your cables are stretched or need adjustment and not moving the valves all the way closed, or the valves themselves are bad and it is allowing water to drain back out through your water intakes on the outside of your transom.
Re: Question about Skeeter's livewells (skeetersx200)
The water intakes is probably the answer because that is what we found on another friends skeeter to be the problem.

I had something similar happen on my old Skeeter. Try filling the wells up and then taking an old bilge plug and plug the overflow holes. I checked mine all over and did not find a leak and when I done this problem solved.
