I was going to do the same thing tomorrow afternoon . But I was told to put it before the bulb. And to be sure and fill the filter with gas.

I have installed one on mine and slim is correct. Reroute it that way and that should correct your problem http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
Re: water separator /need a little help (LOZ ZX)
Bad 'bulb'?
I just installed one and I only had to squeeze the bulb about a dozen times to fill the filter.
Re: water separator /need a little help (DELMARVA DAVE)
Disconnect the line before it goes into the filter. See if the bulb will pump gas then. If mot bad bulb. If so you might have a air lock down stream. I put one(filter) on a ZX225 after the bulb, filled filter with gas before installing filter no problems. Hope this helps.

Try filling the filter before you screw it on.

You should have it installed where your bulb is after the filter. Also fill the filter as full as possible with gas and before you screw it on. If you bulb was okay before the install then it should be fine now. Try holding the bulb vertical when you squeeze it. If that don't work turn it 180 degrees and try again. Doing this will allow gravity to assist the check valve built into the bulb (sometimes they stick a little).
