Another oil question ? ( XD50 or XD 100 )

I bought a new 2007 Etec 225 HO, SN# 05187199 . I asked the dealer what oil grade was it set on from the factory, he told me the rep told him XD50 for the first 20 hours then switch to XD100 after, but it's optional. when he went and upgraded the software for the temperature alarm, it wouldn't let him set it for XD50. The only option he had was Xd100. So he called me and told me to run XD100.
I'm confused like so many other people. He told me that based on the engine temperatue, the software will tell you what to set it on.
Any truth to that ?

There is no XD-50 setting, only the XD-100 and a TC-W3 choice.

I can see no reason why the TC-W3 setting will not "take".

It took it before, but after he did the upgrade for the overheating alarm, the only option he had was XD100. That's when he told me that some engines require that and some don't. It depends on the engine running temperature.

What ever happened to the official BRP reply ? It has been about 1 month now ?
