New to me Ranger 2006 180 Reata
Hi all, I've been cruising around the BBC site for a while now and have recently purchased a new to me Ranger. Yes, It's a fish N Ski but will see more fish than ski.
I've not taken possession of the boat as it is getting final detail and a trailer title generated for Colorado. While I wait, I'm doing alot of research and have emailed Ranger for the brochure for the boat as well as ordered some cleaning products from one of the site sponsors.
My initial plans are to replace the 55pd TM with a 80lb Terrova with Ipilot and replace the Lowrance x125's with upgraded models which I'm still deciding on.
I'm coming from a 17ft tracker so I'm not totally new to boats but I am a novice owner with this big of a boat and motor.
Is there anything that I should be looking out for or check on right away? What about during checkout and walkthru prior to taking delivery? The dealer will be doing a motor checkout (113 hrs) on a 150 opti. and is reputable and I feel very confident in them treating me right in all aspects
Thanks for this board and all the knowledge on it. I've filed away many tidbits already.
Brett

Nice boat, you didn't say the model year but seems low engine hours so sounds good there. Your fortunate to have a dealer you have faith in, helps the experience for a first time large boat owner. Come on warm weather and congrats.

I would make sure the dealer does a good compression check on the engine and have his teck take a flash light and check out the cylinders for any scratches. 113 hours on a 2006 is unreal low hours, looks like you got a great deal on a nice rig.
Re: New to me Ranger 2006 180 Reata (BNC04)
Thanks for all the well wishes and congrats. I'm anxious to get the boat home and get started on personalizing and accessorizing it.
I know the dealer has done a compression check and printed out the specs etc for the motor. I've also asked to see if any warranty work has been done on the motor in it's life. We also negotiated a 50/50 cost deal for any issue that develops on the boat/motor/trailer for a period of 6 months.
This weekend, Garage gets cleaned out to make room for it!
