Anyone got this setup yet? Or run one?
I havent seen one of the new 150 4 strokes yet but it has me curious about how its going to run and how much torque it has. The thing should be a BEAST being a 3.0ltr engine!
I ran one on a Pontoon and it had plenty of mid range torque. Not sure how it will perform on a bass boat though.
A guy here in Bama has one on a new 18 Explorer Triton. Was curious if any had made their way onto a Bird yet.
I'm really curious about it.

If we're talking about the same guy, he told me his top speed is 52 with about 10 hours of time on the engine. I'm not familiar with the performance numbers of that hull, but I would have expected 8-10 mph more than that. I can't remember what prop he's running.
There is a thread in the General BB Topics about this. He said he is running a 21p w/ no JP. Sounds like he needs to get one on there pronto.
ah I see. Yup, same guy. And yes, he needs a JP for sure.
Yeah, his setup is far from optimal. With a 6" plate he should be able to find the additional rpm's needed (500+) and still turn a bigger prop. I'm thinking it would be a 60-62 mph rig. But if the reports I'm hearing about this motor are correct, I think it would be a great combination.
I ran one on a basscat sabre and it was very impressive!!! Actually was very close and even faster on top end than the yamha 150 hpdi. Holeshot was just a little slower than a 150 proxs but by far its the best small fourstroke i have ever run http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
