Quick Question

I own a Javelin boat and it has a 150 hp Johnson outboard......Coming out of the oil tank is bulb that is always stiff......but coming out of the front of the motor where all the hoses are is another bulb that has always been soft since i bought the boat new....what is this 2nd bulb for and is it suppose to be hard or remain soft......And does anyone know where I can buy a quality gearcase oil and other grease and oil for maintenance without having to go to my dealer? He knows hes a rip-off......Is synthetic ok or should i just stick with Johnson products?

Gas bulb.

Stick with Bomb products.

But should that bulb be soft or hard like the one coming from the oil tank ? you can pump it but it never gets any stiffer...

The oil tank primer bulb is there for the rigger to prime the oil system when rigging the motor new and you should never have to prime it.

The fuel bulb should get firm when primed, once you start and run the motor the bulb will need a squeeze or two to make it firm again.

If your bulb will not get firm replace it with a Bombardier 3/8 primer bulb.

Rusty, Ive never known the bulb to ever be firm since brand new and it has run fine and started fine....never really given much attention to this bulb until a couple days ago,but have tried to pump it in the past and it has never got firm after several pumps.....So your saying this bulb should be pumped firm before every start up ? Didnt hear any air when i was pumping it........If it needs a new bulb for some reason can you tell me a website that sells replacements parts and lubes for my johnson motor.....thanks

It should be primed at the first run of the day, there is no web site for Bombardier parts, you will need to see your dealer.
