How to make your Phoenix sound awesome for less than $200
... if you want some tunes in your rig and you have some sort of multimedia device, MP3, walkman, diskman, jogging radio, whatever. As long as it has a 3.5mm head phone jack, this will work great.
For those with Android or Ipod devices, this set up is fantastic. For free, you can enjoy in your Phoenix.... satellite radio from around the globe, local and national AM/FM radio, MP3, Weather Band Radio, Speaker Phone, and much much more!!
No head unit is required!!
Kicker Marine 2 way speakers, MB Quart's 2 channel AMP, and an RCA to 3.5mm connector, and some speaker and battery wire are all you need.
1) run the speaker wires to the AMP.
2) run the RCA connector to the AMP.
3) Connect your battery to the AMP.
4) Plug in your favorite 3.5mm device to the other end of the RCA connector.
Enjoy!!

where did you mount the speakers and amp?
Re: How to make your Phoenix sound awesome for less than $200 (idbefishing)
The factory mounted the speakers in the standard locations. The amp, I will mount in the battery compartment. Ill run the 3.5mm cord out around the drivers cup holder area.

Pics of your speaker location anyway please! Mounting your amp in the batt compartment??? You might want to make sure it wont get wet back there. Mount it where the water doesnt run off the deck onto it. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

I thought about getting a couple of these to try, no amp and no cutting holes for speakers. All the reviews so far indicated the sound is pretty good and loud.

That's pure genius. Well done! I'm going to do that. I love listening to some tunes while I wait for blastoff at a tourney.
Everybody else's guts are turning from nerves and I'm just in my own little world jammin on my iPod and then I let the best loose and blow by em all on the way to my holes.
Sometimes I catch em, sometimes I don't, but I get a lot of "man that boat is out of sight and boy is that fast" talks going at the weigh in's which is fun.
Tunes make it that much more fun! Great post.

Now that's a sound system for a bass boat! I could live with that one. Perfect for pre-tournament tunes... (Pantera, Rob Zombie, Metallica!) http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/devil.gif

Love your idea! Installation complete yet? Would like to see where speakers are mounted and how you ran wiring. My only concerns are cutting holes in my Bird and battery amp draw. Don't want low voltage on my Merc. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

Not yet, sorry. I've been distracted by some issues win my SHO. As soon as I get that figured out, ill start on the stereo again.
Re: How to make your Phoenix sound awesome for less than $200 (microsalmo)
These sound pretty good, no thumping bass but good enough for when I want some music. They can be easily tuck away in the console the other 95% of the times I'm on the boat.

Guess I am just old; for all I want to hear is nature and the sound of my SHO.
