1993 175 Fastrike tach and voltage output -
1993 175 Fastrike - VJ175GLETR/G03160000. Got around to looking at my dead tach. Replaced with new spare, still no RPM. Checked tach at post between SIG and ground, no voltage. Checked voltage at battery, with digital meter, 13 volts before starting, slowly (2 minutes) gets to 13.6 volts after running. No charging/starting component's have ever been replaced to date. Great service !!
Need help where to check next. I do not have a service manual, but would certainly purchase one with suggestion of best to buy, and where.
Thanks in advance

I'd replace the voltage reg/rectifier, you can get a shop manual from Ken Cook for your motor. http://www.outboardbooks.com/i...=year

At tachometer...Should have 12V DC between purple wire (switched 12V+from key) and black wire (ground) with key on.
Should have 10+/- AC volts (I think) between gray(signal) and black (running).
Verify 12V on purple where reg/rect is plugged into engine harness with key on.
You can perform AC test on same wires @ reg/rect on engine while running.
ChampionMan has given you "the" correct place to purchase a genuine OEM service manual that will provide details.
Good advice CMan.

I too had the same troubles with a faststrike like this and it was the rectifier.
