1999 225 ficht quits at speed
Was running across the lake at 4000 rpm and it starts losing rpm and then will just barely idle and no change with throttle change. Let off gas and it tries to die then sputters and quits. Wont restart, just tries like it is going to. Went to the primer bulb and squeezed a couplke times and it starts and runs fine. Did it a second time later in the day and went to primer bulb and it is soft again. Squeezed it 8 to 10 times before it got hard and it started and ran fine. No alarms and no lites. Someone tell me how a primer bulb should feel while motor is running. Also could I have a fuel line collapsing or a bad fuel pickup or inline filter. Help please, http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif this motor scares me when it acts stupid.

It sounds like a fuel delivery problem which could either be in your boat's plumbing or the lift pump on the motor. Use a piece of clear fuel line temporarily attached to the fuel line at the motor and run the boat. If it is full of bubbles, then start tracing and repairing what is needed.
If the fuel is "solid" and the motor will only run by squeezing the ball, then replace the lift pump. Make sure you have an Evinrude primer ball, no other make!
