XD-50 is acceptable IF the dealer left the settings as they were from the factory.
Check with your dealer and see if they changed the factory setting.
I contacted the dealer and he said a sales rep came and told him start putting XD50 in the etecs. Is there a reason for this??
I have talked to two different BRP dealers and both said that the factory is now recommending XD50. And according to one the new 2008 motors will not have to be reset to use 50 or 100. Just passing on what I heard. I use 50 and I have over 95 hours with out a lick of trouble. I'm running a 2006 E-tec 225 HO. And the motor is running so good that I also have not had any updates as of yet. If it ain't broke, leave it alone.. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
Thanks for the info. Did u take it pretty easy on your motor by not running to many rpms on the 1st 10hrs of use or not??
I also just got word from my dealer that they talked to a rep and that they are recommending XD50 now. Said they were not getting the performance they thought they would. I just repowered to a E-TEC 150, and my cousin just got a new boat with a E-TEC 200 H.O. and we were both going to switch to the XD100, but the dealer said that REPS have change the recommendation.
I don't think your information is correct, BRP has not recommended switching oils but according to a post on this forum customer service has recommended changing the EMM setting to TCW3 to at least one customer.
This means that you will use twice as much of that expensive oil. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthdown.gif
