225 HO ETEC TIMING QUESTION?
Do the ETEC's have a manual timing adjustment or does the EMM control it automatically?
Also, took the cover off my motor for the first time, what a compaction of stuff!! Also, didn't see how it could get lots of air, looked to be all closed up, could one open it up to add a few horses?
One more question, I have over 30 hours on my engine would you suggest changing spark plugs since it should be past extra oiling? I have been using XD-100 from day one.
Thanks,
Rod

THe timming is controled by the emm. THe emm does need to have the mechanical timming performed. This can only be performed with the software. THe engine cowel has a large vent that you do not see with the rear splash pan built into the cover.

And, I would suggest you Do Not Modify any part of your new motor.
The spark plugs should be fine even after the extra oiling period. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: 225 HO ETEC TIMING QUESTION? (johnrude)
Mr. Johnrude, if mechanical timing is off, would this affect WOT power or does the EMM compensate, ie anti knock sensor etc which would allow the EMM to advance the ignition withoug knocking? I just want to make sure I am getting maximum power at WOT which could be affected by timing, at least in automobile engines which I am most familiar with, outboards I know nutin............
Taking the boat in to the dealer for some minor warranty stuff on the boat this week and was wondering if I should just have them check the timing to be sure.
Thanks,
Rod

The mechanical timing Must be set for the EMM timing to be correct.

I think this is an EPA issue , you can't change
my 2 cents
