Faststrike runs great with Boyesens
I just ran my motor yesterday on the lake. Over the winter I updated the fuel system replacing all the old black gaskets, new Boyesen reeds, all new re-circ valves, new OMS, and carb kits. It is a 1992 Johnson 150 Faststrike.
It starts good, idles smooth, and has really good response.

Did you have any problems with the motor before the up grades?
Re: Faststrike runs great with Boyesens (fastman151)
The motor idled rough, shaked at low speeds, smoked bad, and used alot of gas. Rusty63, Seahorse, and Rudetech all said the old black gaskets went bad along with the recirc system. It works great now, I used all BRP parts execept for the reeds. I use XD-100 oil and it still smokes some, but it is doubled oiled right now for the first tank. I still had premix in the tank, but I added a the new OMS and I am just going to use up the gas and double check the pumps operation.
I also added a BRP waterpump kit while I was at it. For any do-it-yourselfer's in central Kansas, Riedel Marine, Lakeside Marine, and Arnies Boat were all good BRP dealers to get help and parts from.

Wow thats taking care of your toys, nice to see.
Re: Faststrike runs great with Boyesens (Rustyhook)
You just added many years to your motor. A 1996 48HP of mine had all the fuel lines disovle from the inside causing lots of problems with the engine. Looks as if you have covered it all.
One question about the reeds. Did you advance the timing? When you said the motor idled rough and used lots of gas I thought you were posting about an optimax!

I installed them by the book. It stated that a .005 richer jet was needed for the idle circut, so I did this by getting jet blanks and using special drills to get the right size. Once I got it going, I performed the link-sync with the special OMC tool, then ended up retarding the idle timing a couple of notches.
I really like this motor. However I am looking for a Ficht 150 or 175 that needs some help. I always like to have one to work on and I want to learn the DFI motors.

Rustyhook, you may want to contact Coloradoman25. He has a 150 Ficht that has a cylinder going down. Take a look here. http://www.bbcboards.net...79189
