Resealing drain fittings in splashwell?
I have noticed the dreaded brown crap coming out of the back of my drain from my splashwell. Its not much, but still worries me. Is this something i should be freaking out over or can i just reseal those drains and be done with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. What should I use to seal it?

I don't know for sure how to seal them now that water is in there. I do know I had the same problem with my 1982 Glastron. I smeared silicone around them but it was too late. Once the water gets in and the wood gets wet it is hard to get it dried out again. I had to replace the transom but it was years later.

i did mine couple years back, it was summer time and i just let it dry out, there was all ready alot of sealant in there, so i dug out some of the stuff that was moist and it dried out, tested it with a moisture meter got froma friend who does drywall work and put in back in with 4200 ... good to go..

Try taking all the fittings out and put a light on it till its dry. Also a hammer with a cloth on it with light taps around the transom will sound "tingy", if you get a dead sounding thud there is soft wood there.
