Prop Problem

I recently ran into some shallow water while I was taking out my boat. When I looked at the prop on land I made the edges pretty rough. Will this effect my preformance alot? Can I just smooth out the edges? Or should I take the prop to a shop and have them work on it?

If the prop ears are bent at all send it to the prop shop.

Prop Shop you could do much more damage than good and cost yourself more money in the long run.

Definitely needs to go to the shop whether it appears bent or not. That damage to the leading edges will turbulate the water and cause slip. Never use a file on a stainless steel prop.

Run it. The boat will tell you how messed up it is performance wise. I will say I did the same thing, and performance was unaffected. I then got tired of seeing it roughed up and sent it to a prop shop and performance got worse. If it is a good 23p and it runs fine leave it, if not buy a new one. Too many hack job wannabe prop guys out there. I've used a ton of prop shops and can only recommend two. That being said, a new prop is more often better than a worked one. Unless it worked by Mark Croxton, or Brett Anderson at BBlades. Definately get it to the shop. Any of the small nicks over time can result in cracks and can throw ears. It looks pretty rough. Bob Lipton at performance props is the man and can get you in and out in no time. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

Absolutely!!! I roughed up my prop last year. Took it to Robbie Patterson ( http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif ) immediately!!!!

Any prop damage, I would at least get it looked by a professional. My main concern would be balance and performance that could cause other problems.
