There is a 200 Yamaha for sale locally for a very reasonable price. My boat is only rated for a 175, but man that 200 would really make it move.
I would like to hear some of the opinions and the do's and dont's.
Thanks

That 200 will make that boat run like it should. I am sure your boat could handle it............My only question would be on the insurance side and I know some insurance companies are fine with it and other aren't.
If you fish tournaments, that is terms for disqualification.
Not all tourneys........Just saying
"187 Opinions Needed"
Well here is your fourth of 187. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif
If the Ins does not like it the lake cops may not eather. When I did it, I was allways looking over my back to see who was around.
It was a mind game for me. Did not like it.
I would put the 200 on in a heartbeat. Put some 175 stickers on it and don't worry about it. My old 181 had a 150xr6 that was pumping out a lot more hp than that. Never any issues with any wardens or insurance companies. I wish my 187 had a 200. If you don't buy it please PM me the info on the motor.
Is it a big block or an older carbed small block?

Have to agree to disagree on that one! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
You can do some sweet stuff to that small block carbed one with some simple HydroTech bolt ons.
If Pat sees this he will agree to put it on and use 175 stickers on the cowl. I'm gonna do that to mine eventually. I say go for it!!!
IF it's the 3.1 litre 200, then the 175 stickers won't matter as the 175 are the smaller block. If you did put a 3.1 litre on it, that sucker will run awesome! Big weight difference though...
How do you get past insurance, etc? Let's say you buy a 188 with a 200hp on it and you sell the 200hp and buy a 225hp. Do you have to re-insure it or do you just not say anything?
Simply put, how do you do it? What are the steps for re-powering? Thanks guys
Sorry if I hi-jacked your post, my apologies.
To quote Pat again, "there will always be somebody out there who will insure you."
Very few insurance companies WON'T insure it. I know progressive insured my 168 w/220 on it, and my double over powered saltwater skiff, they were more interested in how fast it was than what was on it.
Y'all are awesome. Everyone in the Champion forum really seems to treat people like family. Always eager to help and never with an attitude. I appreciate you guys and for all the help you've given. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
