sending unit location on my 198?

I may need to replace the sending unit on my 198 and I dont know where it is on the tank does anyone know?.

Behind the center seat on the back wall? My buddys 04 198 has a plate there.

I have an 04 198 and the access plate doesn't give you access to the sender. Gotta remove the whole seat shebang. Seats have to come off then the piece (1-big piece including side pieces) where the seats attach to have to come off. At least this is what I was told by my mechanic. If you find a way to replace the sender via the access panel please please let us know. Been 3 years since I knew the level of the fuel.

What does the gauge do, anything?
How can you tell if it's the sending unit?
