No... I'm not selling my boat. But I saw this 1994 204 on our local Craig's List and I'm wondering what you all might think about the price. He's fixed it up pretty good but didn't add some of the things that I think add value... like hydraulic steering, electronics,etc.
I'd like to think my 201 is worth that.

Looks good. Pics can be deceiving. It's also the worst performing 20' Champ made. Very dificult to set up, especially with just 200hp. Not much lift. If you want the ride and are ok with just cruising, it's not bad. But for that price, I'll buy a 202 with a 225 or bigger. I've seen several, and looked at a couple. They were clean and ran like stink, and for thousands less. But I'm holding out for a 191DC/200 Merc. That would be perfect for me.
yeah... I know about the 204.
I'm not interested in buying it. Just wondering about that price considering the shape it 'may' be in.

I looked at a 202 with a 200 Merc 2 months ago that was very clean and ran well. It didn't have a lot of content, but everything that was there worked well, and it had hydraulic steering. I could have bought it for $9500, maybe less. I looked at a F&S 202 last month for $8000 that was very clean and had decent electronics and hydraulic steering. It had a good color scheme, too. I could have removed the cushions and pads and had a normal bassboat for less than $1000 easily. I have carpet, and R&R quoted me $400 to make new box lids like the standard ones.

Grossly overpriced, even for out west. It's an $8k boat on a good day. I don't think I could get $13,500 out of either of my 203's, and they are 5 years newer, and sought after models. The fact is that fixing up an older boat really does very little to add to the value. It's still an old boat. Maybe someday there will be a market for "classic" bass boats, and God knows our champs are the closest to that, but old boats are old boats. Some of us truly love the classic mountain home boats, but really pride of ownership is the motivation for fixing them up, not adding value.
As for your 201, I'd say a clean 201 with a carb motor from the early ninties is a $7-8k boat, unless it has brand new electronics, in which case selling them separately is prolly the way to go, because *most* people looking at older boats really don't know what they would be getting, or what it's worth.
