livewell pump question

I have a 94' 186 elite. Does anyone know how many livewell pumps it has and what gph they are? I have to pull all my batteries and charger out to look and I am not ready to do that quite yet.

Interesting...the 186 does not appear in the 94 brochure. It first appears in the 95 one. In 94 brochure, the closest is the 184.

The number of pumps is going to depend on whether you have just Aerator, Aerator and Hydro-Air, or those 2 plus pump-out.

I have 1 Hydro pump and no pump out. I have one big divided livewell. My thought is that I have just one livewell pump feeding both fill nozzles.

My divided livewell has only one fill nozzle. It also has the Hydro-Air venturi. Two pumps...one (Aerator) for fill & recirc in and out of lake, and the other (Hydro-Air) for "bubbling" the water in the well without sending it into the lake. Yours should work similarly, but someone who knows better than I will be along...

Thanks for your help. What does it say for the 95?

one pump for aerator and one for hydro air. I believe both are 750 gph. I would think johnson or mayfair cartridges would be standard...

Thanks for the info. That is what I would have guessed. I can see the hydro is a 750 but just wasn't sure about the aereator.

The brochures prior to 97, were so generic that they are really not much help.

My '91 184DCR has 2 500gph pumps for the wells and a 750gph bilge pump for the boat. That does not mean they are correct but I would suspect that the well pumps would not be as big simply because the livewells do not require large volumes and it would burn more of your amperage up. The best replacements for your pumps are Mayfairs and if you have to replace any of them consider replacing them all. It is a real pain to get to them and make sure you make good connections and strap the wires down nice and neat. I got all these points in a similar question I asked last year here in the forum. This website is the best!!!

Both should be 500 GPH. You can upgrade the fill/aerate to a 750 cartridge no problem. If you are going bilge diving add an auto bilge pump if not equipped on your boat and add a back up pump. The hydro air can stay at 500 GPH. When installing the new pumps use bullet connectors on the wires. But reverse the connectors put the male on the brown and the other male on the black wire. Makes for quick swap outs and not having to clip and crimp everytime you need to replace the pumps.

I will replace all pumps when I have the back end opened up in th off season. Champman, I agree about putting in a auto bilge, those are nice warning signals when you forget to put your plug in. (HMMMM.......Why is my bilge pumping water.......OH RATS....GO GET THE TRAILER!!!)

My local club threw together a last minute tourney for this weekend so I thought I had better get my aereator fill pump working. Took my batteries, chargers and floor peices out and this is what I found. It all came apart fairly easy. Should have it back together with pumps and valves replaced by saturday morn.
