Well I ordered me a Bimini top for the 206. I just got to try something to get a little fishing in. I have to quit around 9 or 10 in the morning. I also saw me a 12volt fan at Wal-Mart, I think this is the last straw, hopefully my plan will work. The other choice is night fishing. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sweating.gif
As I get older now I mind the heat more also. The past couple weeks here in PA have been rough 90 + with 70+ dewpoint high humidity. Wife and I bought some Frogg Togg chilly pads and must say they do work very well.
Just make wet wring out excess water and in a few min they are cool, we use them on our necks and it make a huge difference in making us feel better,cooler, more alert.

SE TX/SW LA is just about the most miserable place ever this time of year...98 F 98% humidity and calm days will make you run for cover. Add to that the hydrilla gnats that swarm and you'll be certified insane in a short time. Gotta run the boat every hour to catch a breath of breeze..
The nighttime is the right time. My boss flew in from Seattle and we fished Thurs and Fri night on T-Bend, talk about a weather change for the guy. He was amazed at the thousands of bugs lit up by the q beam on the way in late at night.
Cmon what ever happen to the died hard fishermen..last week fished a Tx in 100+degrees with heat index of 115,,90 is nothing,, it was 90 this weekend..I would rather fish in heat than cold anyday..I have found that if you put several cold rags on ice and wrap around neck it keeps you real cool..wear all white clothes and get you a hat that covers your ears/neck and it makes a huge difference when fishing in the hot stuff..
Those gnats will make you go crazy!!!!
I passed die hard six chapters ago...has nothing to do with it.
Still though, when you can't open your pie hole without a mouth full of gnats, and you're sweating like Mike Tyson in a spelling bee, and the BIG difference, it lasts for 3 1/2 months here, not a little two week heat wave...
Toledo Bend, or worse S. Louisiana swamp is mind bending hot...jungle hot, tarzan hot, no wind, standing in a sauna hot... 94 degree water, 98 degree air, and 99% humidity at 10:00 a.m.... then it really steams up in the afternoon before a monsoon hits you.
I went to Vegas with 109 and it felt just fine, big difference between hot and being steamed to death.
The gnats love white for some reason, so you can't wear it unless you don't mind thousands of them all over you.
we got nothing but 100% humidity up here..Its just as hot here as anywhere in the country..although we dont have a billion gnats but there are tons of other flying critters that irritate the crap out of you..many a snapped rod trying to swat them away..either way hot is hot..and no wind makes it even worse,,
Just be careful. If you read on the VA board, friend fished a T on the Potomac and drank lots of water and Gatorade. Still suffered heat stroke, kidneys shut down rushed to hospital. 7 IV bags of fluid and several quarts of water taken orally later...he's OK, but it is close to a miracle!!!
Your right Lea,, i was out on that day last weekend at 105 degrees and went thru 4 gatorades and 4 waters and still didnt do many #1 considering how much i drank..Being hydrated starts the day before you go out if you plan on being out on hot day..

Still not foolproof. Sid was hydrated and continued to pump in the fluids. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!!!
"Round here".....when the summer heat hits the night fishing begins. Less heat, less boats and better fishing. Heading to LOZ tonight at midnight and fishing alllllll night. I love it.
