1997 181 with Mercury 150 EFI.. Here's what i got:
63.0 mph 23-24psi on water pressure @ 5950 rpms, me and full load
6" jackplate with prop to pad at 3.5"
Im running a Trophy 23.
I think my jackplate may need to be dropped just a tad, or move up to a Trophy 24. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Tempest will find you some mph. I'd start with a 23, and have it tweaked if needed.
Sound like you have possible strong running rig. How is your hole shot now? Usually a 23 Tempest is what you want on that boat combo.
But if everything is accurate and you have that kind of H20 PSI and turning those kind of RPM's I wouldn't be afraid to try a 25 Tempest. Your hole shot will suffer some though.
Agree with the 23 tempest, but have it balanced & bluprinted with some cup added & it'll bite more like a 24-pitch... Your numbers are very strong already with a full load... Best my '96 150EFI can hit is 64.5 running light.... 3.75" below pad - 6" set-back... 23p Tempest worked by Mark Croxton...
Get you a 24 tempest and have it balanced and blueprinted, if you dont carry a ton of crap in your boat you'll be able to turn it just fine, propshaft between 3.5" and 3 1/4" below pad is where you need to be. Ive been running a 23 during tournaments when I know I'll have full fuel, livewells full, another guy, etc... A 24 the rest of the time.
Hole shot is great! I get up front with the bigger boats and can usually hold them for about a mile or so until i get sucked up. You think a tempest would still outperform a trophy say?
What kind of RPMs should mine be running?? I've seen on a website for that specific motor it should be between 5000 and 5600. I know i've got a little too high rpms but i just wanna know what my target should be. Thanks for all the input so far guys!

Tempest will outperform a 4 blade unless you are on terrible water like Erie or LOZ! And then the 4 blade will shine till water calms again...
Yep Lea is right on here, the trophy is still a OK prop though, my uncle has a 181 and runs a 24 trophy, it runs 60 ish with no jackplate. Ive tried a couple different 4 blades and they dont compare with the tempest overall. I'm turning around 5700 with my worked 24 and between 57-5800 with the 23. I'm actually buying a A40 25 tempest to try and I'll post results if they are any good. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
