Should I be worried about this?

Saw this crack in the splashwell on the passenger side this past weekend. Boat is a 2000 191.

Need better pics. Take the metal strip off the transom and use a long screw driver to feel for rotted wood. I lost my 97 202 to this and the 1st thing I saw was cracks in the splash well. Hopefully there only cosmetic in your case. Also, if the engine flexes on the transom when you bounce it at a 45 degree angle then not a good sign.

not out of the norm for this area to crack, however since it is around transom area it is reason to be concerned. I thought by 2000 Champion went to all composite (no Wood)
I would have a good boat glass shop look at it. Good news is it is white and no flake so repairing if neccesary is going to cost less.

All composite was later...I think 2003 era, but not positive. At any rate, whether wood or composite, gel can get stress cracks. Some are of no concern what-so-ever. Others may need attention. It is not uncommon to get cracks in this area.

As said, check transom for flex. Or take it to a good glass shop and see what they think.

You might also send the photos to Mike Bristow at North Texas Fiberglass in Denton. He's a Champion driver and all around good guy that will shoot straight with you. I am no final word, but to me that is just a stress crack... if that is the only one that you have on the boat (which I assume since you are concerened) than you need to run that boat a little harder http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif ....I would say there is nothing to worry about

My white 181 was full of those after only 1 year. If thats all you have then your doing good.

Are there any brown stains in the rear compartment around the jackplate bolts?

If not I wouldn't sweat it. If there is I would look deeper.

Thanks for the replies. I feel a little bit better. There are no brown stains around the jackplate bolts on the inside of the rear compartment and the transom is solid as a rock. I think I will do what Reggie said and send a picture of it to Mike Bristow in Denton to see what he thinks just to be on the safe side.
