Re: JD Power rating (FEARTHETURTLE210)
From what I read, you do have to pay to be part of the JD powers survey and alot of smaller boat brands (i.e. Champion) choose not to. IMO I could care less what JD powers says.........they have recommended cars/trucks and other things that you couldn't give me.
I don't need someone else to tell me what I already know.........that Champion builds the BEST bassboats http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Re: JD Power rating (FEARTHETURTLE210)
Bob is correct.....you pay to be part of the survey..... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif
Re: JD Power rating (Bobs203)
bob, i have to agree with your comment, i will make my own determination what is a good boat and a good company. So far Champion builds a great boat and they have stood behind there product and there customer, I would say to Champion save your money and put it into your boats and let the product speak for itself...

[QUOTE=Bobs203]From what I read, you do have to pay to be part of the JD powers survey and alot of smaller boat brands (i.e. Champion)..........What are you saying, Champion is a smaller boat brand? I'm sure if the JD Power award was in Champions favor we'd be seeing it a little differently wouldn't we? Nothing wrong with being recognized for outstanding customer service and satisfaction. By the way I've fished out of a Champion since 1986 and have never owned a BassCat although I think many brands that are still trying to even exist today might take a look at what will keep them around for a while.
Re: JD Power rating (BalsaBee)
balsabee, i agree with what your saying that alot of brands can learn a thing fro basscats committment to there customer satisfaction, but i would like to see JD Power do there own darn survey w/o charging companies to particpate, Basscat may be the highest rated but being the best out of only 5 companies isnt setting yourself completely apart from the competiton.

Yes I am saying that......on a volume basis compared to Ranger, Skeeter, Triton, and Nitro, Champion is smaller. I wasn't slamming Basscat for winning the award just saying some of the smaller brands (based on volume) choose not to pay to play.
Re: JD Power rating (FEARTHETURTLE210)
All I would say to Champion is if you're good get in the race. I've never got to fish a bass tournament for free.
Re: JD Power rating (BalsaBee)
Gents according to the BBC board topic count as of 2/12/09 the following are the counts relative to posts:
Bass cat 23,338
Champion 64,220
Champion need not spend a dime on JD power ratings, Champion owners do not need an outside firm to convince us. The numbers of satisfied Champion owners speak volumes.

Re: JD Power rating (Lea)
Sorry but I do own a Champion and have since 1986. Is there another Champion forum? Did I say something out of line here? If I did I apologize.....? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif
Re: JD Power rating (Lea)
Don't know what JD charges to play but if I was a boat builder, and a darn good one at that, I might consider it as an advertising fee.
I believe that most bass fishers already know that Champion will hold its own against just about any boat out there and when the water gets rough, it may be the best. I like the BassCat, Skeeter, and Phoenix, but I own a Champion.
Re: JD Power rating (BalsaBee)
I don't think you said anything wrong no reason to be sorry!

Re: JD Power rating (BalsaBee)
Very glad you own a Champ. And, at this point in our economy, as a loyal Champion owner, you do know about spending wisely....
Paying for a rating is not spending wisely.
Recreation industries are hurting...and consequently, must spend their marketing $ carefully...
I wish we could advertise in every magazine and on every popular tv show....but that is not the wise decision right now....
Hang in..it will all work out

Man, I like your Pic. "You serious about that Clark." You gotta believe in something. I believe I'll have another Mic. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif
Re: JD Power rating (HaulinBass)
Oh, sorry to high jack. Back on subject. Why is it that most bass boat enthusiasts always compare their rough water ride to "ChampioN" when puffing their chest.
Re: JD Power rating (HaulinBass)
I rode in a new Basscat this fall in moderately rough water and it beat the $%#@ out of me! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif Sure wished I had been in my Champion! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif
Re: JD Power rating (HaulinBass)
No doubt Champ is the best and what everything else is compared and I take that part back about never fishing a tournament for free. Back in the day when the Champion Tourn. was out of Pontiac Boat Dock on BullShoals, those were free and the main reason I and many others I know around here got into a Champ to begin with. Talk about customer satisfaction. If JD Powers would have given an award to anyone else it would have been laughable. To bad those days are long gone. I would like to know how many boats were sold due to the Champion tournaments (and the rough water ride of course).

Turtle was over in BCB land! So indeed this did start over there.

The award was not for "best" bass boat in the world. It was for highest customer satisfaction. Genmar had Ranger and Stratos right there behind Cat, I'm sure Champion would have been in the mix. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
If you got yer teeth jarred out in a simular sized Cat vs a Champion in rough water it was the driver not the boat. They are VERY close in ride!!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
Re: JD Power rating (JohnM)
+1 on the Cat ride! I drove a new 206 last week and a new Puma Ftd not much ride difference if any. about 8-10 mph speed difference.
