You should NEVER see a benifit of one on a properly setup champ.
Pat, what about the rare instance of a low speed limit waterway? A place I often fish has a strictly enforced 25mph limit. I haven' t had the 203 there yet, (bought late fall) but every boat before that I have owned has had trouble staying up at that speed. We call fishing there "being up on plow".
I've never rigged a champ yet that wouldn't stay on plane @17 mph.
pat maybe you can give me some advise on a setup because, my rig has never seen or stayed on plane at that low of speed. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
That's good to hear Pat. I've ridden in the boat tons of times over the years when the previous owner had it, but in all those times, we never ran or had a need to run, on plane that slow. The boat was set up originally by Nichols in OK and the hole shot is awesome as well as the top end.
I meant to post: These things are meant for row boats with 9.9 mercs not bass boats. If a bass boat is rigged correctly and trimmed properly none is needed.
IMHO they look really dumb hanging off a bass boat.
I talked my buddy out of one and did so by showing him some trim skills.
OK I feel better now!
