GENTLEMEN........ I WANTED TO ASK EVERYONES OPINION OR EXPERIENCE ON THE RELIABILITY OF A PAIR OF 2003 250hp EVINRUDE FICHT ENGINES.
THE ONLY REASON I AM ASKING THIS QUESTION IS BECAUSE I HAVE TO OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE A BOAT FOR A GOOD DEAL. I AM HOPING THAT I COULD RUN THESE MOTORS FOR A YEAR OR SO AND RE-POWER. HOWEVER, I DO NOT WANT TO BUY JUNK.
WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS OR EXPERIENCE WITH THESE MOTORS? I'M WEIGHTING MY OPTIONS HERE AND LOOKING FOR SOME ADVICE FROM FISHERMEN.

If you want the history on those motors, you'll need to post the model and serial number. One of the techs here will get back to you with a warranty history.
If you just want opinions on those motors, I'm going to tell you the same as I did on THT. 2003 Fichts are BMC built motors, they are solid motors and shouldn't have any more issues then the next Yammy, Suzi or what not.

I've got the same motor, no major issues, just the maintenance. I have about 250 hours on it at all RPMS and have no complaints.

Well at least you came to the correct online message board. You should not have any problems with a BRP built DI outboard such as the ones you have in question. I run a 2003 225 Evinrude DI and I have no worries or problems with it. Its installed on a 23' Gulfstream. I will repower with a new ETEC once they break the 300hp mark. Like stated if you get the numbers they can look into the engines for you. If you have any other questions this is the place to ask them.
