Appropriate flo torq adapter doesnt fit evinrude splines?
Has anyone had the splines of the appropriate flo torq adapters not fit your evinrude prop shaft? I could have seen folks post this before here or on the prop site. The man I spoke with at mercury was curious.

Yep!!! Sure have experienced it. It took 5 different Flo-Torq hub kits at my dealeer before we found one that would work on my 225 HO. I seriously doubt Evinrude would care about the Merc hub kits not fitting in all cases. It appears to be a tolerancing issue with the Flo-Torq hub kits, some work and some won't.
I tried the Michigan Wheel hub kit and it wokrs fine (at least the one I got does). Best thing to do is go to a dealer and ask to try several Flo-Torq kits until you find one that will work on your motor.

The problem I have run into is (had one today) for some reason there seems to be a build up of paint in the spline area of the hub kit insert, several taps with a small hammer and punch will help seat the insert, once run for a few hours it will pull off the prop shaft easy. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

I wondered if it was paint. I dont see any burrs or obvious paint build up but I'll buy an xhs instead. Thanks Rusty! You da man-

I don't fully buy the paint theory. When trying several hub kits on my 225 HO, several of the kits that would not go on mine did go on another 225 HO on the dealer's lot. Todd Morgan was with me when we were trying to isolate the problem.
