The bilge pump in my 1994 zx150 is not working. Im wanting to replace it with a newer version and add an automatic pump.
Two things
One where is it located. I had a marine mechanic tell me he thought it was under the gas tank. Im hoping that is not the case.
I had another person tell me that it is under the battery s.
Second
When adding the auto pump can I run a direct electrical line to the battery for that one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used to have a 1994 Skeeter ZX200, so I assume your rig will be similar. In the center of the battery compartment is a lid that is held down by either 4 or 6 screws (can't remember how many). On my boat, one of the batteries was mounted on top of this lid, don't know about yours. One end of the lid will be located between the 2 knee braces. Remove the screws, lift the lid and you should have access to your bilge pump.
As regards, wiring, most people want power available to the level control switch even when the main power switch is turned off. This will allow the bilge pump to function at all times, not just when the main power switch is on. Wiring directly to the battery accomplishes this.

If you checkout my thread I covered where it was with my pics. Remove batteries, side tank forward and you will have access to the bilge.

Can you only an automatic bilge pump and not have one connected to the switch?
There are multiple ways to install. If it is an auto bilge(with built in float) with three wires, one is ground, one is power via switch and the the other is direct power to the battery. Is that what you are asking?
