Setting Timing on 1995 200
I have researched this and have not found a definite answer. The timing was messed with and needs to be double checked.(as I don't have a test wheel or tank) There is a local shop here, but they worked on my motor one time and that will be the last time they touch. I had to end up doing some of it myself. Any tips as how to set the timing or suggestions please let me hear them. Thanks

Obviously the best way is with a test wheel. However, it can be checked another way. This is assuming you feel it's close but needs checking under a load. Good idea BTW. What we do is back the boat & trailer down the ramp until it's back far enough that the water pump is covered with the motor down and the propshaft at a slight negative trim angle.
Obviously the timing light is hooked up and ready. I prefer to have the harness connected to a remote starter and stop switch and run it myself. After the motor is warm and out of Quick Start I put it in gear and slowly bring the rpms up. If it's too far in the water the rpm may not come up to what you like so you may have to trim up or pull the trailer up slightly.
Once you do it you'll see it's pretty simple. And safer than hanging off the back while someone else drives across the lake.

The WOT timing on your motor is the last step in the synchronization and linkage adjustment. If someone has "messed with it", you don't really know what they may have changed. The only proper solution is to do a complete sync and link adjustment.
Unfortunately, there is no way to get around it on your motor.

So just make sure you have enough water pressure when you are doing it. When you say negative prop angle do you mean trimmed up or down. I need to run it to about 5000 RPMS right.
I wanted to do the whole sync and link adjustment so since it all goes together that will be perfect. Thanks

Yep, make sure the pump is in the water to pick up water. Then just run it carefully and advance the throttle slowly. And yes, you may have to play with the trim to get it to 5000. It's a lot easier than it sounds.
