Champ Newbie - Seat Replacements
Hello,
I have an 1984, 17' champion and I am looking for seat replacements. The originals were recessed underneath the base to accomodate the raised area and gasket of the storage area under each seat. In looking at replacements, all I see are seats with a black plastic base on them. These seats would wind up sitting on the gasket and leaving a 3/4" or so gap all around. I could build a frame or something but I was hoping someone here could offer some advice. The originals are beyond salvage. Any advice welcome.

Re: Champ Newbie - Seat Replacements (Lea)
The older champs had a wooden base with a raised lip around them to it wouldn't smash the gasket, may want to try and go by a local upholstery shop and see if they can't fix you up. Next choice would be Deans but it will be pricey no matter which way you go.

Thanks.
You are describing exactly what I have. The old bases are like this and the raised lip is inside the material so it the gasket and raised lip are actually pushing up on loose seat material. This allows the seat to set flush and perhaps seal the storage area.
I will contact Deans. If anyone else has advice, I would appreciate it.
Thanks for the warm welcome . .that may change will all of my questions :-)
