Correct Terminology ??

Can someone tell me what the correct terminology is for the distance from the top of the deck to the top of the top cap?

One guy told me it was "Freeboard"....and another dude told me it was "Gunnel"....I thought it was just called "deck height"....

I was talking with a buddy of mine (a Ranger owner) and I was telling him that the decks on Rangers are a little too low for my liking...(especially near the console)...as it makes it tougher to "pitch"....and I couldn't figure out the correct term???

Gunnel is what i have always heard it called

Freeboard means the distance from the waterline to the top cap/deck.

It is actually called a toe-rail on a raised deck, but gunnel works for me too.

On a bass boat the low toe rail or gunnel is called a "flipping deck" as opposed to a "casting deck".
