I am looking at a clean 1997 Champion 203 DC Elite with a 200 Mercury EFI. Does anyone know of any problems with the 1997's? I was concerned about being underpowered as well.
Does $14,500 sound like a good deal if everything checks out?

No problems with the boat, but you're going to be sadly underpowered with that 2.5 200.
I was a little concerned about power but if I can get 65 MPH out of the boat I'll be happy. Your thoughts?
I bought a clean 97 202 elite with a 05 225 optimax for 17,500 3 months ago. Love the boat and it runs 72-74 with the 225. I would think if the engine is a 97 then the price is a bit high. .
thats a decent price but its underpowered i think...but you might be able to find a good deal and swap the 200 with a 225 and then have a very good rig http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Are you sure its a 203 and not a 202? I didn't think the 203's came out until '98. Either one is a terrific boat. Good luck.

You're right, 97 would be a 202 ...
I run a 97 202 elite with a 97 200 efi merc. I can run 67 all day long. Its no hotrod but the ride is great. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
