Wood or Fiberglass Transom
I saw a 1988 Chamption 17'10" with a 150 Evinrude in my area for sale. Does anyone know if this boat would have a wood or fiberglass transom and stringers. Here's a link to the add, anyone want to weight in?

Not sure if they were using the balsa core stringers back then or not? If it has been taken care of no problems. Pat Goff would know.
Re: Wood or Fiberglass Transom (JohnM)
Wood in the transom and fiberglass encapsulated stringers.
Re: Wood or Fiberglass Transom (ChampioNman)
+1 Wood in the transom and fiberglass encapsulated stringers.
I owned a new Champion just like that in 1988, except a single console. I would be more concerned about that engine than the boat. I think they had problems with the oil injection on the 150 OMC in those early years? Maybe someone who had one of these engines can comment. I had a Mercury 150 XR4 on mine.

Still have them out there with the VRO hooked still running strong.
