Cracked bow eye...

It has come to my attention that the bow eye of my 1990 184 has developed a crack in the front portion of it. This concerns me a great deal. My question is, can I get it welded or do I need to replace it. I haven't the faintest clue of how to get in there, and I do not want to cut a hole in my front deck if possible (don't have money to recarpet right now). I also don't want to cut and add a recessed pedal or something, as I like the height of my foot pedal and I kick it around the front deck all the time as it is.

I replaced one a couple of years ago and had to stick my arm through a small hole where the depth finder was mounted to get to the bolts that where fiberglassed in.

You should be able to access it via your front control panels.

This is what I love about this board, I was panicking all day I had to cut a hole in the deck, and in 15 minutes my problem is solved. Lets see how scraped up my arm gets in the process...

Anyone know offhand the size of this eye and where I can get one?
