Need help...adding a water pressure gauge 2004 Johnson 175
Looking for some help on adding a water pressure gauge to a 2004 Johnson 175hp engine. Model J175GLSR s/n G05065466
1st question...what type of pressure will I see at WOT. Been doing some research and found it could be over 30 psi, which would require a 60 psi gauge. But I am not sure and would like to buy a the proper size gauge.
2nd question....where do I attach the tubing to the engine. Is there a plug to remove or do you "T" into the pee hole tube.
Thanks

Port or Starboard cylinder head ....there is a plug on either head that you need to remove to install the fitting for the water pressure gauge.
As far as pressure.....above 15 PSI at WOT would be acceptable. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

I am doing the same to my 140 and had the same question on the "t". I can tell you that on my teleflex gauge, it says that a 6cyl requires the 60lb gauge.

bassslim,
I contacted Teleflex and they told me according to there "instruction sheets" a V6 Johnson would require a 60 psi gauge. Teleflex still didn't know what the pressure would be at WOT. Guess I better go with the 60 psi instead of pegging a 30 psi gauge.

at least if its pegged you know you have water pressure.

TRUE......but if the gauge starts filling up with water I might be have a livewell where I don't want one. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
