Re: Water inlet screen (mixer)
Steve, which motor do you have? Model number please.
If you have the old 4 hole gear case the screen has most likely slid up to the bottom of the water pump, to change this screen you have to drop the gear case.
No matter which gear case you have I would suggest you get it fixed before you run it again, you could cause an overheat problem.
Re: Water inlet screen (RUSTY63)
Rusty thanks for your reply, the model #E150GLECD 1998 Evinrude intruder, how much work is it to pull the gear case apart,is it something i could do or should i take it to the shop,is there any other way to get the screen down? thanks, steve
Re: Water inlet screen (mixer)
That should be the 4 hole case, I dont know your ability's but if you can put a water pump in you should be able to handle this.
When the screen moves up, as yours did, you have to replace it, there are small tabs that break off and that is why it slid up, it can shut the flow of water to the pump off enough to cause the motor to overheat........It would be a shame to have a $3.77 part cause a rebuild.
