Don't even attempt to loosen up the rusted cables. A broken cable at WOT is something you don't even want to think about.
No, cables are not hard to replace. Be sure to tie the new cables to the old ones so you pull in the new as you puil out the old. I perfer the Telflex NFB system. They don't make it steer any easier like the Hyd steering does but you can't feel the torque of the motor and they won't break the bank.
Here is one place to get them:https://www.surplusunlimited.c...=2200
I guess nobody knows about a jack plate for that rig or they might have responded by now. BTW Welcom aboard en keep asking????

well i bit the bullet and ordered a teleflex no feed back dual cable rack.....how on earth do you install these? Does the motor have to come off?

OOps, forgot that little issue. Could be. On mine at least I had to slide the motor about 6" to the left........but I happen to have a 3010 John Deere with a front end loader so it was about a 10 min. job for me.
Can read that link that was posted, something about i am not authorized to edit a post.
Sorry about that. Here is the pertinent text.
Get your new throttle cable, make sure the old one is completely disconnected from all mountings and black tape/duct tape the throttle handle control end of the new cable to the motor end of the old cable. Now pull your old cable through the hull from the throttle handle end until the new cable pops through. untape it, hook up your cable ends and viola, you will have installed your new cable. The same can be done with some steering cables, but if they have the gear block end for the steering column end, you should instead tape a length of sturdy rope to the old motor end and pull it through the hull with the old cable, then reverse the process with the new cable tied/taped off to the rope to be pulled back through the hull.
You may need two people to do this, one to guide the new cable and one to pull the rope/old cable. This is especially handy if you don't want to completely disassemble your boat in order to access to the narrow hull channel where the cables run. Good luck.
Hope this helps a bit.
im just worried about gettin the new teleflex system to fit under there. ive heard that i may have to do some cutting. any thoughts?
nylon straps , come along, and a tree branch will do the same thing http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
that depends on what system you are replacing. If it's a rack system you should have no problems but if it's a rotary system it might not work.
ya its a rack system, does the motor need to be moved, because from the looks of it i think that it will.
Well did the removal and install with a buddies help. Took us around 4 hours to complete it. We did have to move the motor over a couple of inches. Also some of the dash had to be cut out but other than that it was a pretty smooth install. Definately cheaper than taking it somewhere to get it done.
