Jet sizes for XP150 & recirc valve cleaning
It's time to get to the bottom of the black plug mystery. I suspect the recirc valves are pulgged, so I might as well check the jets in the carbs, and do a rebuild while I have them off. Motor is a 1987 XP150 E150STLCUR
I need some help with the following
What are the jet sizes for this motor?
What is the best way to clean the recirc valves? Is there a cheap man's substitute fot the OMC valve cleaning tool? Do I need to pull the lead shot out of the carbs to clean all the passages? If so, how do I repulg them?
Thanks in advance........Pete

Pete,
Hartwell is on fire right now! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif ! Pull the carbs and pull the re-circs, soak them in Iso-Alcohol or moonshine aww drink the moonshine and go with the Isoprophyl overnight. Take a fine nylon brush and clean the screens you may need to swish them around in the Alchyhol to get the carbon off them. Clean them with carb spray, the block side will blow through, the nipple side won't if it does time to replace it. Never had to pull the lead shot out on a rebuild but the procedure is in the manual.
Sounds like you need a vacation and I need a FGG fix http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif ! Time for you to come take a ride in the re-powered Champ http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif ! CM http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/pimp2.gif

C.M. Thanks for the info. Yes I do need a vacation, but it won't be coming for a while.
I'm starting a new business. I am looking forward to a ride in the ol' girl, and maybe catching a fish, or two. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif
Does anyone have the jet sizes / p/n's for the carbs?
Pete

Thanks Rusty
Do you kave the sizes for the intermediate, and idle jets?
Pete
Re: Jet sizes for XP150 & recirc valve cleaning (basn4fun)
The idle air bleeds are 30.
The intermediates are 38.
I would not change these jets, If every thing on your motor is perfect and bone stock, No fiber reeds, no shaved heads, no holes drilled in the air box,.... I would change the mains to 58.5 and make a wide open shut down run and read the plugs, This is NOT for just anyone to do!
First off, it can be Dangerous.......If you do not have the skills it takes or you are not sure, SEE YOUR DEALER!!!!!
Second, you have to know how to read the spark plugs....If you do not know how, SEE YOUR DEALER!!!!!.
