New cajun adventure 174zw owner, need new prop
1993 cajun adventure 174zw with I believe a 93' Yamaha 115hp pro v on it. Prop is bent way beyond repair and is in rough shape. I can not find any markings as far as size? What would be the best fit for me, I'm looking for good overall holeshot and top end. Tached out at 5500 rpm trimmed all way down on plane and then jumped to 6300ish when trimmed up(I immediately backed off with the high rpms?
Boat is 17' 4"

It's unusual if that prop isn't marked somewhere. If nothing on the outer barrel, they are usually marked on the hub under the nut.
Just a wild stab but I'd guess you are about 13 3/4 to 14 x 18 or 19.
As long as you are replacing do yourself a favor and go stainless.

found 13 X 19 K where you said to look. Now what should I do?
Thanks,
Chris

Gotta tell ya, I'm no prop expert by any stretch of the imagination. I'm going to take another guess based on what I have read on these boards the past years.
Guess 1) even tho the 13 will spin easier than a 13 3/4 or 14, I don't think a 115 should spin a 19p to 6300. I would guess that due to the bent condition of the prop you are cavitating when trimmed out.
Guess 2) each inch of pitch will drop the rpm's by 300 or so. To get that bad guy down to 5500 (where you should run) (based on the 300 rpm formula) you would need to go to a 22 or 23p and that is about all a 200 will turn.
Time to quit guessing. You need to go to the expert, Todd Morgan, in SET-UPS BY TODD forum. He will need the following information:
a. Pitch and diameter of current prop (be sure to tell him it is damaged like you did in this forum.
b. engine brand, HP and current RPM's (info you wrote here is adequate.
c. length, brand, and style of boat
d. how you want a prop to perform. ie; hole shot, top end, skier/tuber, etc. Remember, hole shot and top end don't come together. You can have one or the other, or middle of the road, but not both.
be patient, Todd is very busy. Don't be afraid to move your post to the top if you start sliding too low on the page. Above all trust the guy. Boat set-up is all he does for a living.
If new will break the bank go to E-bay and do a search for stainless props. There are lots of good small bore, 13 spline, props for the Johnny/Rudes for less than $100.00.
Good luck, DJ

thanks again DJ for all your help!

Re: New cajun adventure 174zw owner, need new prop (shadydeuce)
I had the exact same boat except I ran a 90 hp motor - always wished I had bought the 115. I had a 3 blade aluminum 17 pitch that worked best. I tried the 19 pitch aluminum and a stainless 17 pitch. Both the 19 and the stainless gave me better top end, but the hole shot was messed up so I couldn't pull a skier anymore.
Now, all this being said, the 115 is a stronger motor...an DJ really knows his stuff and sounds like he is right on the mark. The 19 aluminum is most likely the prop for you.
