27 TXP on a 210/250 Ox66 ?
Hey guys. I know these same old prop questions are getting old, but I need to ask again.
I tried running a new TXP 27 B&BP from Croxton with PVS holes on my 210 with a 250 OX66. As soon as the nose would start to drop when coming out of the hole the prop would blow out and cavitate. I could barely get it on plane, but did. Once on plane I would only GPS 74 with full load while only hitting ~ 5300 RPM's. I'm thinking if I raise the motor I will get more RPM's, but will this help my hole shot?
At my current set-up I can turn a Yammie T27 5800 RPM's @ 75 full load.
What should I do? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif

The TXP blow out on breakover is somewhat common. You can try plugging some of the pvs holes but I doubt it will help much. Without having a flared barrel the exhaust is getting to the tips of the blades. The TXP props can be run very high and your rpms and speed should go up, depending where your propshaft height is now. Your boat may require more cupping added to the tips, Mark dont charge much for that. The TXP's are a lil' stiff to turn... I turned that very prop at 5800 on my old OX66 LU at 81 sumptin mph.

I run a 27txp with 3/8 holes to 78 gps summer and 80gps fall on a 210/250ox66 loaded, empty wells, I lose about 3 mph with full wells and I use all the trim.

Cool. Looks like the motor is going up a bit... http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
