hey guys when i sent my boat in for some work last fall it came back from the marina with a cracked rpm gauge. I thought i could just replace the plastic cover that was cracked but have been told its a sealed unit and i will have to replace the whole gauge. Its a 7000 rpm smartcraft gauge with the digital display at the bottom.It is black with silver trim. Can anyone help?
There is an inner and a outer lens on Smartcraft gauges. The outer lens should be attached to the bezel ring and probably can be replaced. The older ones can not be. Newest gauges also are glass lenses and lenses can not be changed.
its on a 2010 cougar not sure if it is glass or plastic will have to take another look. was told you have to replace the whole thing.
That gauge in a 2010 will have a warranty if your engine is under warranty. Not if it has been struck obviously, though should be checked on if that engine has warranty. All Mercury parts are covered through the life of the engine after about 2007 year.
