90 mph Bass Cat??

Talked to a guy today on Lake Houston, Texas. He was in a 20 ft Bass Cat with a 300 Merc 3.2 Stroker. Nice guy. He was fishing a small creek and we got to talking fishing and boats. I asked about the boat, how is ran etc. He mentioned that his boat ran 92 turning a 25 Fury, was a 'light build' and designed to run 90+ by Bass Cat. I said C'mon and he shrugged saying it does run in the low 90s. I said 'awesome' and stay safe.

Q: Anyone know if a BCB is running low 90s as stated above and if so, then the math does not seem to work, because he would need to have ZERO slip, run 1:62 LU gears, and turn 6300 or so.

The new Eyra, with the 300xs, is in fact, a 90mph boat in the hands of a good driver and set up correctly. I have no clue what prop it would take to attain those speeds with the Eyra. As a matter of fact, BCB won't sell that setup to just anyone.

There may be a couple of Eyra's out there with 300's doing it, doubt they are turning 25 Fury's.

1:63 gear ratio John

The boat was originally owned by an individual in Arkansas. That boat was sold to one in the Houston area. Likely capable of 90 in the right conditions, right load, etc. etc., but I doubt the new owner can run it that fast. I also doubt it was a "light build".

SM LU with 1:62 gears? Props? Labbed 28 ProET?
Any thoughts on a saltwater version with non skid or SeaDek vs carpet?

I bet FLYSWATTER can get it to hit 90mph if he drove it and post it well from top to bottom w numbers. Enjoy reading what he does for BCB with his boat/boats over on the BCB board from time to time. There was a lot of discussion about that boat on the BCB website. The origianl owner is one heck of a good guy an knows how to set-up and drive a boat to its maximum potential. I do not know the current owner.

I'm not saying it can't be done because anything is possible. I thought a Fury like to be run deep and he has to be running a sporty which in concept on how the componets are designed it doesn't seem like it would make sense.

I ran across some old posts regarding this rig, although I didn't see the final numbers the previous owner said it ran best with a 28 Bullet Cut Performer over the hub exhaust. Then went to say he was trying 5-6 additional props. The 25 fury was the break-in prop along with a 27 fury. I think D. Tucker probably ran low 90s.

That I can see. I was assuming he was hitting those with a Fury.

finally found the last post. He ran a 26" offshore prop to 88gps in 96 degree air and 91 water temps. 1/2 tank fuel tourney load 3 batteries empty wells. He did say the 25 fury was 2nd best prop. I'd to see what 50 degree temps would have done.

This is the boat that is now in Houston and exactly the reason why I say the the guy likely has never seen 88 much less 92! The previous owner was a "go fast" type guy if I remember right.

I don't remember the guy's name that bought the boat. It has been at Bowden Marine for service work. I think the guy hit a stump in lake houston and had the gear case replaced. I know the boat and the previous owner. It's the black, red, and yellow one that has had pics posted here and on the owner's board. I

i fish LH very often and have seen the boat mentioned above, but never doing 90+.. not saying it cant now that were back close to pool level. but i wouldnt bet on it

10-4. Now on LH, if we could just get SOME hydrilla started in LH, already got tons of shoreline brush going - maybe a baby Rayburn ? ....Nah, LH would be wall to wall with boats then.

I never knew there was a 1:63 ratio however Ive owned lots of 1:62's from Mercury Racing. I think it can be done with the right setup AND DRIVER.

Rob, I believe you are correct. 1.62 on a sporty which is what was installed on that 3.2ltr stroker.
