Starting problem 1996 150 johnson fast stike
Started motor first thing in the morning. started first try let it idle for about 10 minutes while everyone else got their boats in. When I went to put it in gear to got as soon as I moved the shift in gear the motor just quick. When I went to start it up again all it would do is turn and act like there was no spark it would not even try to turn over. A couple of people have told me it could be the power pack. The bad part of the whole deal is I just got it back from the shop for a turn up. One thing they did do was rebuild the starter they said it was draging. I am wondering if they could have shorted something that might have damaged the pack. Any info would be great. I am going to take it back to the shop as soon as I can.

If it does not turn over then there is something else wrong not the pack. Does the trim still work?? If not check the fuse on the eninge.

It does turn over fine the trim works. I checked the fuses they are ok I double checked the kill switch. when I pulled it out of the water you can see what looks like oil on the bottom of the lower unit around the exhaust ports.

Even though you had it in for a tune up this problem may have not been found as it may not have existed at that time.
It could be the pack or stator or a few other things, have it checked out as these parts can be costly to buy for trouble shooting. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif
