I've got the 8' Pro model and love it. I'm actually thinking of getting the signature model and putting this pro on my other boat.
I personally couldn't have this ol yeller without a power pole. My local pond I go to has some junk docks that the only way I can tie up to them to launch/load is to tie up with a bumper and run the power pole down. This way the boat can't swing and get beat up by the junky docks.
The fishing advantages are fairly obvious. Very handy to anchor the boat in place while changing lures, getting another rod out etc.
As far which is better between the two, I like the power pole based on what 've seen. But as far as the principle of what each accomplishes I say absolutely!
Hi Gentlemen:
My son has a power pole on his Bass Cat Cougar FTD and loves it. I thought about one on my XB2003 but thought there may be differential wind resistance (with this thing on one side) above 75mph and I would not be able to drive the boat. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif I am going a different route and am waiting for a backordered 80# 45" Terrova with iPilot. If thing thing works as advertised, it is supposed to keep me within a 5 foot radius. I am spending more time now Musky fishing in northern WI now and this iPilot looks like the bees knees for night fishing a saved track around a shoreline. The hassle with it is fabricating a nice neat mount but I have a few ideas. I anyone is interested in pictures when I have it mounted let me know.

Maybe that's my problem?! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
Put two on...one on each side...problem solved..... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
I dunno, you put a flag on two of those babies and you might have a blow-over!
On a more serious note--guys are using their power poles as adjustable depth downriggers to troll for Musky here in WI. I don't think my 200XS would like trolling very much.
