With the prices of other boats...
With the prices of new Rangers, Skeeters, Tritons and the likes as high as they are now, has that helped the sales of Allisons? I think If I were going to pay over 50K for a boat, I'd just buy an Allison. That XB21 BasSport Pro with the new Yamaha 225 SHO would probably be in the same price range as some of these new boats from the larger manufacturers, and Allison's probably not going bankrupt. Guys are saying the new Skeeter FX will be over 50K. If I could afford those prices, I'd want to get better fuel economy, performance and the build quality of an Ally, what do you guys think?

I will be very interested to see some real world testing of the new SHO but so far it looks really good. If you want a 4-Stroke I would say the SHO and the XB21 Pro would be an awesome combo.

If you put a fantastic new engine like the Yamaha SHO on an inefficient hull, it will end up costing so much more in gas over the life of the boat. If you factor in the fuel savings over time and the total cost of ownership, the Allison boats are very attractive.
Re: With the prices of other boats... (896J)
It sounds like you answered your own question. Months and months before I purchased my XB-21 2+2 I spoke to Bill at Allison about a skid planer for my Astro and we touched on the subject of the economy and boat sales etc. I don't believe there any bullet proof companies in today's economy but Bill felt confident that their business structure was on solid ground. Paying close attention to quality in workmanship and materials and the addition of doing reconstruction and repair work/refurbishing customers rigs has kept them busy.
I just purchased my Allison this September and I see no reason why this boat will not last me the rest of my lifetime. I have squeezed my head/body where I could in every nook and cranny and I can tell you I have never seen quality like this anywhere.
While learning to drive my new boat I burned up quite a bit of fuel. When I was just out fishing and running the way I normally do (much more conservatively) the fuel gauge barely moved. And that was at higher cruising speeds than I was used to. The hull lifts so effortlessly that you don't realize how fast you are going with such little input to the throttle!
I have a 200EFI with stock 200 lower unit (no nosecone) and holeshot is crazy. I forgot to tuck it under the one time after fishing for a while and I had it just under neutral trim and it came right up on plane with less than full throttle. Tucked under and throttle hammered it jumps up on plane with bow down. I don't even have to give it half throttle and it is on plane. Try that in a cookie cutter boat.
Good luck in your decision making process. The poor economic conditions makes this a buyers market right now. Check with the Allsion dealers and see what they have to offer. Don't forget they have to make a living too so don't beat them up. You want them to be around to give you service after the sale. Check out the combo rigs for sale on the Allison web site. Good point. I'm pretty certain my fuel consumption has increased dramatically since I got my Allison. Reason being, it's an absolute blast to drive. Try as I may, I just can't resist the urge to take it out to open water and air it out. Maybe that will pass, ...... hopefully not. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

Even at wot, we're still gettin' almost twice the mileage than other boats running at their wot. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/stirthepot.gif
