Smell
Ok so I was at the lake from the 9th to the 15th and on my last day I went to this very SMALL pound that I was not even sure had any fish in it. I was determined to catch ANYTHING long story short I end up catching a few of these and decide it would be a good idea to keep them for bait for a little night cat fishing on my last night there.

So I go out that night catch a few cats and end up with one bait fish left. Cut to today I look in my tackle bag for the first time since the lake and smell a foul odder and look and find this.

I tried cleaning my boxes and setting everything in that bag outside to air out.

But they still kind of smell anyone have any other ideas to get the stank out?

Try Febreze. It works for everything else smelly.

That's what I was afraid of. I don't really want to have to get all new boxes and a bag but one thing I did learn as a kid is the smell of death never dies. my dad got a car that something or someone died in and found some tools in it he came home and put them in his tool chest and to this day every tool in there has a bit of a smell to it. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif

Re: Smell (351mustang65)
I would throw away the plastic bags .
Sink the plastic boxes in a bucket of soapy water or dishwashing liqiud/water for a while .
Do the same with the carry bag , maybe use laundry detergent liquid .
Rinse of the hard lures with soapy water or dishwashing liquid . Maybe let them sit in a filled bucket for a little bit .

Re: Smell (351mustang65)
Coffee grounds......pour about a pound onto a pie pan and let it sit in an enclosed area with everything that was affected. If you can add just a tad bit of air flow, it will help also.
If the the first round doesn't get all of it, do it again.
I left some worms in my (turned off) houseboat fridge one time and the smell would freaking gag you. An older lady told me to do this and it worked like a dream.
It will absorb those smells.....guaranteed! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
I would wash everything down first though, like CrazyD suggested.

Re: Smell (cougarcat22)
A lot of folks pay good money for scent to put on thier baits. Now yours are already scented.

Re: Smell (351mustang65)
I had a buddy of mine borrow my boat one time and left a fish in the livewell, I found it about a week later. Needless to say my livewell had a slight odor to it and was in the same boat as you. I had someone suggest newspaper. I balled up newspaper and put it in the livewell closed the lids and left it for about a week. Most all the odor was gone, don't know if this will work for you but it may be worth a try. You could put your boxes with the baits in a plastic tub with loosely balled up newspaper and put the cover on. Never know may help.
