weighted craw plastics without bullet weights....... IDEA!!

I tried searching for this but came up empty handed...
I took a soft plastic craw (approx 4") and texas rigged it... but only different.... Instead of sliding a bullet weight on the line and running a offset hook through the tail of the plastics, I left the bullet weight off, and ran the hook (3/0) in the front of the craw between the claws and came out the tail. I slid a 1/8oz dropshot weight into the tail. So now when I go to pitch it under docks and undercuts or beds, the tail goes right to the bottom and the claws float/point up. Make sense? Same principal as a duel density bait or heavy plastic like the Jackal Cover Craw, but you can use any plastic you like.
Has anyone ever done this?

Yes, I've done something similar. Take a dart head jig and clip the hook off, push the barb through the tail of the plastic.

Okeechobee rig is very similar to that

Ahhhh... I bet I've seen that and subconsciously remembered it..... But, at least with this way there is no hard weight exposed.

Thats what I was thinking. Also heard it called a Florida rig. Usually heavier weights used though and used for punching mats. Good idea though.

Nice idea, I have tried this as well, the only problem I had was for me it snagged a lot worse on everything. I fish some very heavy cover lakes and I find the bullet weight helps the bait slide through the cover. I think this is better suited for applications with less cover. With the O-rig, I usually ended up with grass on the bait to one degree or another.

I meant for this to be used on undercuts that were open and docks n such...

I like throwing creature baits with a pegged bullet weight.

I use this rig all the time when bed fishing during the spawn. Great hookup ratio with the hook position. Never tried it any other time however.

Weighted EWG swim bait hook . Skips good too.
