Years ago I made one from a 12 ft. closet pole (wood). I put several coats of urethane on it, bought an aluminum duck foot for the end that goes in the water and a plastic end for a couple bucks that goes on the top side.
I used a piece of 10' conduit cut it in half and machined a male plug to insert in the other end (female) drilled a hole with em together. Slide em together and insert the pin. Since it's a 2 piece fits in the rod locker and the condiut is fairly stout. The key is the snug fit of the male plug. I used mine alot and there still isn't any give at the joint
If your local high school has a track and field team...get with the coach and see if they have any pole vault poles that have broken...I got one and cut it down to the size I needed...IT IS PERFECT!!!! Also...FREE.
Wasn't Preston Clark one of the originators of the push pole?
I'll never forget seeing him down on his knees sneaking up on bedding fish in the '06 Classic. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif
No, but I believe he was using a pole vault pole to push with.

He was the first person I had ever seen fishing like that. Very stealth.

I use some 6' conduit pieces that is tapered on one end so you can join them together. They fit in the rod locker and I use a pin top connect them when needed. If you have one of those old canopy's that use conduit for the frame the legs they are tapered for you. I could have a 30ft push pole if needed.

Yes, I believe he was--if you ignore several hundred years of use by trappers, explorers, Indians, etc. j/k http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif

Isnt that hard to do ?
I took a 10' piece of 2" pvc and cut it in half. I glued a male and female threaded coupling to the ends so I could take them apart and stick them in the rod box. On each end I made a T......this keeps it from digging too deep in the mud and it makes a handle on the other end so you can pull it out of the mud just in case it gets stuck. Works great http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Only difference in mine is i used a sleeve with a hole drilled in it and use a spring loaded push pin to connect the two pieces together.
