Was in the attic and looking at my soft ducts. Need to replace one now but not sure of it's size and didnt take a tape with me. There was a "10" stamped on it as well as other MFG info so I am assuming this was a 10" soft duct size?
It was comming of the main distrabution box 1600 sq foot house if that helps
Maybe its just a really attractive piece of duct work ?
If it had 10" on it that is what it is.
Yep it's called 10" Flex Duct and you can get some from Lowes or Home Depot. I suggest not get the kind with the plastic outer but get the kind with the metallic covering as it well hold up longer. It' comes in 25' boxes and you will need to stretch it out before installing it. It comes in like a 3' to 4' box. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

Thanks and yes going with the foil. Whole house done with the plastic stuff and it's all falling apart. Found a two foot long rupture in this one and it sits right under a roof vent so temps outside should be a little warmer for you out side. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sick.gif

it probably is 10" if that's how it's labeled. if you still have doubts you can wrap a flat tape measure or a piece of string or something around the inner sleeve (not around the vapor barrier covering the insulation) and measure the circumference of the inner sleeve or better yet the round duct the flex is attached to.
10" diameter should measure a little under 31.5" (31.4")
8" diameter is a little over 25" (25.12")
6" diameter is a little under 19" (18.84")
or if you can get flex off of round pipe it's easier to just measure across diameter of pipe

Class 1 flexible duct is what you want.
It sounds like someone put a spider system in your house, which I believe that they suck. Contractors put them in because they are cheap to install, quick, and easy. For a properly installed duct system it takes longer but you can actually balance the system properly and you won't have a lot of flex duct. When I did it full time, my company would only let us run up to 4 feet of flex duct. We ran hard duct to within 4 feet of the register boot and then ran a short peice of flex to help cut down on the noise of the air going through.

And let me guess, some of your rooms are hotter/colder than other rooms. It's a typical scenerio of a spider system.
