Dr. Johnson Quote... Would like your opinion!
It's hard to understand exactly what's going through a man's mind....I have read numerous quotes form this man and this is the one that really stick's with me. I understand what it means to me.....Just curious what it might mean to others.
Here it is:
He who makes a beast of himself, gets rid of the pain of being a man.
Samuel Johnson
English author, critic, & lexicographer (1709 - 1784)

I like the quote,
To me it relates to shutting out emotions.
Being a Man would refer to facing challenges and responsibilities that would include dealing with emotions and not shutting them out.
I get accused all the time of not having feelings, which would be considered non-human, or "beastly"
In doing so, I get rid of that pain emotions might bring."pain of being a man"
or it could mean, "beastly"= Drinking to oblivion... the rest is self explainatory..lol
